FAQs

How do I make sure my mural will fit on my wall?

The overall dimensions for all our Wallpapers and Prints are stated on the product tab of the relevant Product page. You may also see (and download) a Layout Diagram for the product on the Installation Tab that contains other useful dimensions. You will be able to compare this information with your own measurements of your wall space.

For more information, please see our website page How to Measure Up for a Mural.

What is the difference between ‘paste the wall’ and ‘self-adhesive’ wallpaper?

Our ‘paste the wall’ wallpaper is a traditional type of material that ‘hangs’ in the traditional way. It is relatively easy to install and is proven to be a robust, reliable and long-term solution. If and when necessary, loose edges can be re-pasted down.

Our ‘self-adhesive’ wallpaper is a new type of material designed for hassle-free and quick installation, requiring no wet paste to apply it. You simple remove the backing paper and smooth it down.

Our Self-adhesive Laminated Wallpaper has a high-tack adhesive that will adhere to most common surfaces. The applied laminate adds extra protection and allows the surface to be washed (with care).

Our Self-adhesive Repositionable Wallpaper has a low-tack adhesive that allows ‘drops’ to be re-positioned if needed both during and after initial installation.

All our wallpaper materials are high-quality and have a textured or smooth finish with excellent colour clarity. Surfaces may be wiped clean.

Why should I consider over-laminate on my Door Prints?

An over-laminate, being a clear plastic film, offers greater protection to the printed surface from scuffs and scrapes. It also provides a pleasing satin lustre finish across the entire Door Print. Please note that it doubles the thickness of the Door Print when applied.

How do I purchase a customised, or non-standard, mural?

If you don’t find the perfect product on our website, just call us or send us an email describing what you would like. Because our designs are all modular, we will probably be able to configure the mural you want without much difficulty.

For all of our ‘customised’ products, we provide a Quotation for you to approve before we ask for payment. This includes a detailed specification of your customised product, as well as an illustration, for your approval.

Prices for customising a mural product depend on the amount of work involved and start at £60 + vat (plus any additional charges for any image use licenses that may be required).

Can I ask for different scenes or flora to those illustrated on a mural?

Yes. Simply call or email us to explain what alternative scene or flora you would like and we will try to arrange it for you.

There is no extra charge for including an alternative scene or flora in your mural provided that it is chosen from our own library of images (as you see on our website).

If it is not a scene from our own image library, see below.

Can I customise a Scenic Mural with my own scenic photograph?

Yes. Simply call or email us with your request and we will endeavour to arrange it for you. This option is particularly useful if you want to include well-known or local scenes to your care home.

Such an image may be one that you have taken yourself, or an image that you have identified in an on-line image library such as www.istockphoto.com or www.bigstockphoto.com.

>There is an additional charge of £60 + vat for including your choice of photographic scene in your mural plus any additional charges for any image use licenses that may be required.

We can include any photograph that you provide, provided that;

a) It is of sufficient quality and high resolution for print.

b) You confirm that you have the rights to reproduce the image and permit us to do so.

Much depends on the size of scene, of course, but to be of high enough quality and resolution for print, the photo probably needs to meet these criteria;

JPEG or TIFF format file of 8 - 12Mb size or more

4000 x 3000 pixels or more

probably taken with a digital SLR camera

probably NOT taken with a snap camera, phone or tablet device.

We will gladly look at your photo and tell you if it is suitable or not - for no charge.

Can I customise the signs on a Shop Front mural?

Yes. You can choose the text for all the signage within the mural. This includes the shop sign above the door, the windows signs and blackboard or panel signs. You can also remove any amount of it.

Simply call or email us with your request and we will arrange it for you. Obviously, there are constraints on the amount of lettering that we can include due to the available space.

There is a single, additional charge of £60 + vat for customising a Shop Front mural.

Can I change the type of Shop Front mural?

Yes. You can configure any of our designs to be any type of shop you want. All we need to do is change the signs (see the question above) and change the interior scene to something more appropriate (using a scene from our image library).

Simply call or email us with your request and we will endeavour arrange it for you.

There is a single, additional charge of £60 + vat for customising a Shop Front mural.

If I customise my mural, how will I know what it will look like before I buy it?

For all of our ‘customised’ products, we provide a Quotation for you to approve before we confirm your order. This includes a detailed specification of your customised product, as well as an illustration, for your approval.

This includes colours for emulsion paint for walls that will match the stone or brick colours in our murals, and colours to match our Shop Fronts and doors (for your woodwork).

Simply call or email us with what you would like to know.

Will my wallpaper or print adhere to any wall surface?

Our two Traditional Wallpapers are intended for application to walls finished with standard everyday emulsion paints, using a recommended heavy duty 'paste-the-wall' adhesive and suitable wall primer. Wall surfaces must be thoroughly dry (we recommend at least 8 weeks for newly plastered walls and 4 weeks for newly painted walls to dry out) and flat with a smooth finish. To avoid wall blemishes showing through, surfaces should have uniform colour.

Alternative adhesives and primers are available for application to various other non-standard and/or more specialist wall surfaces and finishes, including those finished with gloss paints.

Our Self-Adhesive Wallpapers and Window Stick-Ups are intended for application to walls finished with standard everyday emulsion paints, using a recommended heavy duty 'paste-the-wall' adhesive and suitable wall primer. Wall surfaces must be thoroughly dry (we recommend at least 12 weeks for newly plastered walls and 4 weeks for newly painted walls to dry out) and flat with a smooth finish. To avoid wall blemishes showing through, surfaces should have uniform colour.

Please note that Self-Adhesive wallpapers and prints can be subject to problems with adhesion and durability in certain circumstances: The adhesives they employ can be adversely sensitive to moisture and some surface coatings. We recommend the application of these materials only to surfaces that are dry, flat and smooth having been painted with standard emulsion paints or varnishes. Painted wall surfaces that are not smooth or have a texture, such as that resulting from a paint roller, might reduce adhesion significantly. Surfaces treated with additional coatings, such as anti-graffiti or anti-bac, may prevent adhesion entirely. Unfortunately, hard and fast guidelines on suitable surfaces do not exist and we cannot offer any guarantees in this regard. Each application should be considered individually.

Our Self-Adhesive Door Prints are intended for application to doors finished with standard type paints and varnishes. Door surfaces must be flat and smooth (for optimum adhesion) and thoroughly dry (we recommend at least 4 weeks for newly coated surfaces to dry out).

If you are in any doubt about the suitability of your wall surface, we recommend that you apply a test piece and leave for an appropriate amount of time to determine that proper adhesion is achievable.

Will my mural be easy to clean?

All our wallpaper and print products may be wiped clean with water and/or a mild non-soapy detergent and a clean soft cloth or sponge. Polishes, abrasive cleaning agents and solvent based cleaning agents must not be used.

Remember that the inks are printed onto the surface material and have no protective coating (except our over-laminated Door Prints). As such, they are vulnerable to abrasion and excessive rubbing. Always carry out a cleaning trial in an inconspicuous area first, to ensure the cleaning agent is suitable.

Does my mural need any special maintenance?
